More flights to Queensland from KLIA

This post is one of the articles that I had read in the "Airlink". "Airlink" is a monthly publication of Malaysia Airports. Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) is one of the best airport operator in the world and of course as well in its home base Malaysia. Curently, MAHB operating most of the airports in Malaysia and also some international's airports in other continents.

Come back to this title now, Queensland is a perfect gateway for holidays with familiy or even couples. Now, Queensland is well known in the world and for Malaysia, its County Manager for Tourism Queensland (Ivan Teh) is glad to see the increasing flights into Queensland.

Currently, the flights between both of the country can be said as very "hot" selling. Why do I say so? Just for Australia, there are a few spot where most of the airlines aiming into it. Malaysia Airlines (MH), Air Asia X (D7) are the airliners from Malaysia which serves the kagaroo route. As for the others such as, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Emirates, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines are some of the examples too.

For Kuala Lumpur - Brisbane route, Malaysia's national flag carrier, Malaysia Airlines is resuming its direct flights this month by using the Boeing 777-200 aircraft by maintaining the existing connections between the two cities via Sydney. Meanwhile for the Kuala Lumpur - Sydney route, MH is using the Boeing B747-400. For the routes between KL and Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide, MH will be using its Boeing B777-200 too.

As for the national's low cost carrier, Air Asia X (a subsidary company of Air Asia), currently they are operating Kuala Lumpur - Gold Coast route by using the Airbus A330-300. Of course the Airbus A330-300s aircrafts also used to serve the route between KL and Perth and Melbourne as well.

There are a varies of choices for the traveller who wants to travel between this two country. Airlines such as Qantas (Australia's natinal carrier) had terminated the route to Kuala Lumpur but just hope that this route will be resumed in a couple of time. For now, Emirates will serve the KL - Melbourne route too. This is one of the transfer flight which its original route is Dubai - Kuala Lmpur - Melbourne. This routes will be serve daily by its Airbus A340-500. And for this aircraft, its First Class is a well known luxury products so now the travellers can try it on this route too. 21 weekly flights from Dubai to KL is one of the hot route for Emirates by using the A340s.

As conclusion, we hope to see more flights to Australia from Malaysia and of course hope that the latest "Giant" superjumbo A380s will serve these routes too.

MAS fleet renewal plan

Nothing much for me to say here. As usual, I had cropped out an article from a well known newspaper in Malaysia (The Star) where its article in the business column is regarding ti the matter as stated on the title. Enjoy the following reading here. Thx for your support on "Freedom Of Space" and hope there will be more time for me to update this blog here. Thats all for this time here!!

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite its huge fleet renewal programme, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is still on track to achieve its Business Turnaround Plan 2 (BTP 2) targeted annual profit of RM1.5bil to RM3bil by 2012.
“There is no change to our plans. It is hard to achieve those numbers, but we are working very hard towards achieving that goal,” MAS managing director and chief executive officer Tengku Datuk Azmil Zahruddin told StarBiz in an interview.

The BTP 2 was launched in January 2008 with a focus on growth and turning the airline into a five-star value carrier.
Under its existing fleet, MAS is leasing 81 aircraft. Through its refleeting exercise, MAS could potentially own an additional 66 aircraft by 2016.
Azmil said that not many airlines were buying aircraft at a time when the economic outlook remained uncertain.
“The selling prices of aircraft are cheaper now. I don’t believe we could get the current deal we got with Airbus if times were good,” he said.

MAS purchase 25 A330s

Another good news here! Regarding the title stated above, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) had placed an order of 25 Airbus A330 for its future route expansion. For this cases, MAS will fly more to the countries in South Asia, China, North Asia, Australia and Middle East. These 25s A330s will start to be delivered 2011. Here are the details or news that I had cropped out from an articles.

PETALING JAYA, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airlines is purchasing up to 25 A330-300 aircraft worth US$5 billion in order to serve the growing markets of South Asia, China, North Asia, Australia and Middle East.
"The A330 will complement our incoming fleet of six A380 and 35 B737-800," its managing director/chief executive officer Tengku Datuk Azmil Zahruddin told reporters following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between MAS and Airbus here Tuesday.
Under the deal, MAS is to acquire 15 A330-300 aircraft with options for a further 10.The aircraft will be delivered from 2011 to 2016.
"The new fleet will create a strong platform for us to profitably grow. The A380 will serve key long haul destinations such as London and Sydney, the A330 for medium haul markets while the B737-800 will be used to strengthen our domestic and regional routes," Azmil said.
Azmil said the national carrier expected to gain annual savings of RM300 million when the first 15 A330 aircraft are received.
"By 2016, all the aircraft we have ordered will be in and we expect to have one of the youngest, most fuel efficient and environmentally friendly fleet in Asia," Azmil said.
He said MAS's strategy was to transform from having a 100 per cent leased fleet to owning at least a third of the aircraft in its core fleet.
On the delay of Airbus A380 super-jumbo planes, Azmil said the delay was due to production issue, adding that the total compensation including the additional delay to August will be in excess of RM330 million.
The A380 planes which are supposed to arrive in January 2011, are now slated to start arriving in August 2011.
On its prospects next year, Azmil said the national carrier expected a fairly modest growth, adding that it was looking at additional potential routes in India, China and the Middle East.
Meanwhile, Airbus senior vice president (sales) Thomas Friedberger said MAS will benefit from the more fuel-efficient aircraft with lower operating costs.
"Airbus has never stopped innovating and improving on the A330 family by integrating the experiences and knowledge that we have gained through other Airbus programme," he said.
-- BERNAMA

So hope that these new aircraft comprises Boeing B737-800, Airbus A330-300 and Airbus A380 will bring MAS to a better future in the upcoming years. Good job MAS.
